Social Tennis

Social Tennis runs on Friday evenings from 7pm onwards, and Sunday mornings from 10am to 12noon. It is free to members and £3 for non-members.

Guidelines:

  • If there are enough players, then doubles will always be played
  • First players to arrive are the first to play
  • Should there be any players waiting off, then a total of 5 games will be
  • played, with a sudden death on the second deuce (receiving pair decides who receives)
  • Players will then switch in with those waiting to make a new 4.
  • If there are no players waiting then this can be extended to 7 games before mixing players from both/all courts.

Using the peg board:

During busier sessions, the use of the peg board can be useful in deciding who plays in each match.

How the peg board works:

  • Every player present has a named peg, which will be placed on the WAITING SECTION of the board.
  • When a player’s peg reaches the front of the waiting section, they can choose themselves and the other three players from the waiting section to go to the next free court.
  • Should a player decide to miss a round, they must remove their peg from the board and replace themselves at the BACK of the line when they wish to rejoin.
  • People coming onto the board either turning up or just coming off court should go nearest the right hand side and then they will move up towards the front.

Social tennis welcomes everyone - adults, whether experienced or newer to the game, and advanced junior players aged 13+. Please enjoy your matches and respect all other players.
